Why Document Selection Matters
Most people upload whatever they have -- a PDF of their website, an old brand guide. Claude reads all of it but struggles to prioritize what matters. The result is marginally better output.
The four documents below are engineered specifically for AI use. Each serves a distinct purpose. Together they give Claude a complete picture of your business.
The principle: dense and specific beats long and comprehensive. A two-page document with highly specific information outperforms a twenty-page document with general information.
Document 1: Business Context Document
The foundation. Five sections: who you are, your audience as a specific person, your current offers with your actual language, voice rules with specific always-words and never-words, and what you are building right now (update weekly).
Document 2: Brand Voice Guide
More depth than the voice section of your Business Context Document. Include three examples of content that sounds exactly right, one example that missed with notes on what was off, natural phrases you reach for, and tone guidance per format (blog, social, email).
Document 3: AEO Strategy
Short document covering which questions your content targets, how you structure direct answer blocks, your primary content clusters, and which AI engines you are optimizing for. Helps Claude produce AEO-ready drafts from the start.
Document 4: Concept Framework
For each format you publish in: what the piece accomplishes, how it opens, what structure it follows, what the CTA is. This lets Claude generate format-appropriate concepts rather than generic ideas.
